I confessed something recently to a colleague...
it was out of the blue, totally impulsive and emotional...
"I hate design."
(lol...hope you weren't thinking of something else)
It was one of those moments when I'm having a massive creative block; working on a project with a tight deadline and yet needing to juggle other tasks at the same time at the office.
But seriously thinking about it...I think I have more of a love and hate relationship with art. Which causes some conflict within me sometimes.
I love art...I still frequently browse through artists blogs, save their artworks and have their sites in my bookmarks...I still doodle and draw when bored or as an outlet of bottle-necked thoughts...I recently found a cool paint app that would be the only convincing reason to get an iPhone...
I hate art...it's really not so much of hating art itself but what comes with it...the deadlines and amount of design works that others expect me to do in a short amount of time while not understanding the other major tasks that I need to handle and even though I work fast but creativity and inspiration doesn't always appear at the snap of a finger...sometimes almost wishing I didn't have these talents...
almost...
Except that I'm gently reminded, that the work I do, every design that I've done over the past year, could be seeds sown into people's lives, waiting and being nurtured, slowly but surely to inspire others of God's love for them...
Dear Lord,
Lord, let the works of my hands inspire others to You, just as I am inspired by Your creative works.
Amen.
